This little sculpture accurately depicts the coelacanth with its fleshy-lobed fins that are evidence of this fish's ancient lineage. First identified in 1938 in South Africa, this strange looking fish was found to be a member of a group that was thought to have gone extinct 65 million years ago (at the same time the dinosaurs disappeared). This stunning fish is accurately reproduced from nature and is painstakingly hand carved and cast in small batches in the good old USA out of genuine pewter.
