My articulating ammonite concretion Pendant is assembled in three articulating parts, evoking the process of discovery. A great accessory for paleontologists and other fossil hunters, as well as fans of squid, octopus, nautiloids, and the other amazing cephalopods!
How amazed would ancients have been to know that “ammonites” (named for the ram’s horns sometimes pictured on the god Ammon) were, in fact, the preserved shells of cephalopod molluscs (related to squid and octopus)? Although no ammonites live today, they left behind a wonderful legacy of fossils, which are often found, as depicted here, in the form of a “nodule”, or “concretion.”
