This pendant depicts a colony of the bacterium Penabacilus vortex. The swirls formed by these bacteria emerge from a “swarming intelligence” which can be likened to the schooling of fish, and serve as impressive, macroscopic evidence that there is more to bacteria than meets the eye!

Knowledge of the complex relationships that bacteria have with each other and with so-called higher organisms has grown in recent years, and this necklace is an emblem of a revolution in understanding that is only just beginning!

Comes with an adjustable-length 2mm leather necklace cord and a detailed educational card.
